For my Pan
Because you give to me
threads that weave a happy dream-
a candy colored kaleidoscope,
a carnival of enchanted children;
from my grave of solitude,
I remember laughter,
and drift from the entrapment of Time.
Leaving an island of zombies,
I shed these chains of humankind,
where the sea air fills my senses.
Sun-gilt feathers are sails in my back,
as I am the ship,
I am the bird
taking my freedom to the expansive air.
You do not try
confining my spirit to the “correct box”,
yet love me
even as my shape changes
from cat to ox to owl;
and watch with tender patience,
as I discover the colors of my separate life.
Your love ignites me, Dear!
