The Orlando Poetry Troupe
|
The Orlando Poetry Troupe is continuing recruitment for a
few new poets to join us for the coming season. We continue today with
a mission dedicated to poetry that was started in April 2005. We
perform our original works during the months of October, December,
February, and April. Excellence in the poetic form is necessary.
However, you do not need any experience in public readings as we are
happy to help. Please contact Hinda-jonathan at angelight@comcast.net
or Phone # 352.508.5077.

Signature Poem
The Third Eye As I walked into the room someone noticed my third eye, and whispered to his fellow bore of the monster seating in their hall. I tried to blend within the crowd, but managed only to be seen, by those with two eyes, cold and dark, who lacked a third to hear the lark.

They Don’t Know
Lost between mortar less walls of interlocking stone, high in the Andes where air breathes hallow and lean, Inca legend serenades yesterday through mists of time. Pachamama hums lullabies from deep inside the world, Inti strums earth’s crust stringing radiance to posts of stone, Pachacutec cries across deaf valleys, “I am king for life and beyond.” Dawn anoints the Inca’s Trail with memory, Unbowed, Sun Gate stands guard, lost in time. Trapped in the cross hairs of mountain peaks, sullen and empty below, Machu Picchu invades today. Without warning or understanding, the past knifes through air too thin for substance, an empire climbs five hundred years behind: chests puffing, tunics billowing, lungs pumping, legs plunging, eyes shut against my tears. They don’t know.

Warner Brown Warner became a teacher and professor of English, rather then a practicing poet. However, upon retiring to Mount Dora in 1992, he began writing poems about Florida birds and published The Lone Muscovy of Grantham Point, Poems and Pencil Drawings. He has written Someplace Special, an extended ballad for the 2010 Mount Dora Centennial.
